Pearl & The Oysters is the duo of Juliette Pearl Davis (Juju) and Joachim Polack (Jojo), who began making music together in Paris and have since built a sound that feels both playful and unsettled. Now based in Los Angeles, their music blends fizzy, squiggly lounge pop with ‘70s piano rock, Brazilian rhythms, exotica, and city pop influences – bright and melodic on the surface, but often carrying a sense of unease underneath.
Across their work, they tend to channel uncertainty and emotional turbulence into something vivid and melodic. Their creative process has evolved from intricate home recording into something more immediate and instinctive, shaped by shared influences like Todd Rundgren, The Beach Boys, and Steely Dan. Recently, they’ve been working more quickly and openly, embracing a looser, live approach that reflects both their long-standing partnership and the chaotic, shifting world around them.
