Hot Bloke is a post-punk band with roots in various moonshine-soaked villages in and around Dalarna, Sweden, who spent their early years conducting anthropological field studies for their debut album "FOLKS". They've now taken on the grand task of writing biographies about people who don’t really deserve them, by fully inhabiting these characters and their distorted lives.
The album "FOLKS" is a collection of these biographies, unfolding like an absurd nature documentary where the narrator isn’t Attenborough, but rather your local gambling-addicted alcoholic. One biography explores the insecurity of men who can’t get laid despite using their dad’s wallet to finance their looksmaxxing “ascension.” Others dive into gambling addicts who are consumed by frogs, red-haired lesbians, and their own patterns of consumption.
All of this is tied together through a raw, punk-driven sound where a group of solid 4/10s — plagued by liver problems and incontinence — do everything in their power to portray the injustice of the modern patriarchal society.
