Light in Babylon is an internationally acclaimed ethno-folk band formed on the streets of Istanbul over 15 years ago, known for their powerful live performances and deeply human message. Blending passionate vocals, magical sound of santur, and Mediterranean–Oriental soundscapes, the band creates music that crosses borders and cultures.

Light in Babylon is driven by a deep love for uniting people from all cultural backgrounds through music. They see themselves as “world people” with a global identity, placing humanity before religion or nationality. They stand for female empowerment, and promote respect and integrity between genders. The singer Michal dreams of one day singing in her parents’ home country, Iran, where women are currently forbidden to sing in public.
