Mellt are a four-piece born in Aberystwyth, now raising hell in Cardiff. Their debut album Mae'n Hawdd Pan Ti'n Ifanc (It’s Easy When You’re Young) scooped the Welsh Language Album of the Year in 2018 and bagged a nomination for the Welsh Music Prize the same year.
Fast forward to October 2023 and their second album Dim Dwywaith, out on Clwb Music, tore through the press — earning rave reviews from Clash and NME, plus a glowing 8/10 from Uncut Magazine. The record went on to land shortlists for both the Welsh Music Prize and Welsh Language Album of the Year.
On stage, Mellt are pure ignition. With chant-like vocals, jagged guitars and pounding drums, they turn every crowd into a riot. Drawing on The Clash, The Band and The Replacements, they twist slacker rock and post-punk into sharp, infectious riffs — all carried by lyrics that cut deeper than you expect.
