Christof Ellinghaus is the founder and CEO of Berlin-based independent record label City Slang, which he established in 1990. Starting out as a music journalist and booking agent — working on early European tours for bands including Nirvana, Mudhoney and The Flaming Lips — he went on to build City Slang into one of Europe’s longest-running independent labels. Over more than three decades, the label has worked with artists including The Flaming Lips, Hole, Yo La Tengo, Lambchop, Calexico, The Notwist, Arcade Fire, Caribou, José González, and more recently Noga Erez, Lambrini Girls, Sprints and many others.
