Viva Sounds is looking for artists and songwriters for Crescendo: a Creative Europe co-funded residency where twelve artists from across Europe will get together and write new music together in Gothenburg - and get a team around them to bring things forward. All indie, all good.
In short, here's all you need on this opportunity;
How does it work?
You'll be matched with two artists you haven't met, in one of four groups of three. Over one week in late November you write and rehearse entirely new material from scratch. On the final day, your group performs it live at Viva Sounds Festival. Travel, accommodation and meals are covered for the whole week, along with rehearsal space, and you receive a participation fee for the week's work and the show.
What happens to the songs?
The music doesn't end when you go home. The set gets recorded and filmed, while Mermaids & Albatrosses, an independent MERLIN-member distributor, releases the audio digitally. Your masters stay yours, and 100% of net digital revenues go to you and your collaborators. The tracks are then pitched to over 300 music supervisors for film, TV and brand placements. MusicBloom helps the project circulate to other European festivals, WARM handles radio - it's all pretty neat and you get a full team around your music.
Who is it for?
Songwriters, producers and performing artists based in Sweden who want to write across borders. We're not looking at streaming numbers, we're looking at what you write and what you'd bring to a room with two other people.
Crescendo is all about developing careers, not only about the songs you write during the week, so tell us what you need for your own career and this project will try to accommodate that. Along the way you get capacity-building workshops from people with know-how, we'll be addressing career development, publishing, sync, metadata literacy, digital presence and lots more.
You need to be available in Gothenburg for the residency, Nov 19 - 26, and only use your own material.
